Established in 2010 by established musical theatre star Kellie Rode and producer Steve Jeffares for Hartington Productions, The Divine Sisters is a premium entertainment act inspired by the 1940s wartime trios.
Previous experience
WWII: During World War II, acts like the Andrew Sisters entertained the US and Allied forces in war zones overseas. Their trademark close harmony singing style is an arrangement of the notes within a narrow range to create a fantastic and unique sound. Barbershop quarters and other a cappella music groups commonly use close harmony. Other popular groups known for this technique include the Boswell Sisters, the Everly Brothers and the Chordettes.
Theatre The featured roles of The Divine Sisters – Gloria, Daphne and Mary – are performed by a rotating cast of Australia’s established and up-and-coming musical theatre stars from shows such as Hairspray, Xanadu, Mamma Mia and Rock of Ages. Popular songs performed include ‘Stuff Like That There’, ‘P.S. I Love You’, ‘In The Mood’, ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’, ‘Mr. Sandman’, ‘Billy-A-Dick’, ‘A Little Less Conversation’ and ‘Son of a Preacher Man’.
