Dr. Meena Thuraisingham is Founder and Principal of BoardQ, a niche advisory practice advising and coaching boards and top teams on effectiveness, development and renewal. She has extensive experience advising on major cultural transformations, leadership succession and conducting top team and board effectiveness reviews. Her consulting work is uniquely grounded in Organisational Development and Behavioural Psychology.
Her recent consulting assignments include a variety of strategic assignments: undertaking a major review of the leadership practices for a global client, providing advice to a listed company board on their nominations processes and C-suite development, acted as an operating partner alongside a major transformation program and developing a leadership blueprint for a client pursuing major strategic change. She regularly facilitates top team offsites designed to develop a shared view among top teams on the leadership required to implement the chosen strategy.
Current Work
Meena is a non-executive director of George Institute of Global Health, a not for profit global health and medical research institute with a mission to improve health outcomes in developing countries. It employs over 600 researchers, scientists and academics with offices in Australia, China, India, UK and the US. It is affiliated with Oxford University in the UK and the University of New South Wales in Australia.
Meena is a Graduate Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and Member of International Women’s Forum.
Meena has held senior roles in ANZ Banking Group, Esso Australia, Hay Group and PA Consulting and currently consults across multiple sectors including banking and financial services, professional services, telecommunications and not for profit organisations in Australia and the UK. Her clients include organisations as diverse as HSBC Holdings PLC, John Lewis Partnership, Credit Suisse, Ericsson, KPMG, Minter Ellison, Investec, QBE Insurance Group and Telstra. She was a co-opted member of the Barclays Group Global Leadership Faculty from 2013-2016 supporting their transformation program. Her work focuses on the enablers of and blockers to both personal change and organisational change.
Previous Experience
Education: She holds an Honours Degree in Psychology from Manchester University, UK and a PhD from RMIT University, Australia. She is an alum of the Senior Executive Program at London Business School and has received her accreditation as an executive coach from the US based Center for Creative Leadership. Meena is frequently invited to speak at international forums on leadership, change, and the human dimension of governance.
Author: Meena’s recently published book “Identity, Power and Influence in the Boardroom” sets out actionable strategies for building high-impact directors and boards. The book is drawn from both her doctoral level research into the processes of boardroom influence in listed companies and reveals the silent risks that a suboptimal dynamic may pose to making critical decisions. Her previous publications include The Secret Life of Decisions and reflect her career-long preoccupation with how the quality of decision making is enabled and what undermines an effective decision culture.
