Previous experience
Sports host:
Beginning his media career in the 1990s, Brayshaw worked for the Seven Network in Adelaide. A substitute sports anchor for the Seven Nightly News bulletin and appearances on football discussion programs, such as Footy Plus, he began to gain popularity for his humurous turn of phrase as much as for his footballing insights.
Radio:
In early 1998, Brayshaw began hosting, alongside Amanda Blair and Paul Gale, Adelaide’s SAFM breakfast show and they soon took the number one rating.
In 2001, he was given the role of host of Channel Seven’s Ashes action with Jeff Thomson, but soon moved to Channel Nine when the AFL broadcasting rights were transferred. Beginning as the nightly sports anchor for National Nine News, as well as making contributions to other sports programs on the network, he soon became a regular commentator on both football and cricket coverage.
In 2005, Brayshaw co-hosted Any Given Sunday with Garry Lyon and Sam Newman. The following year, he and Garry replaced Eddie McGuire as host of The Footy Show, their obvious on-screen chemistry quickly winning over fans hesitant of a changing of the guard.
In addition to his television commitments, he works for radio station Triple M as a host and commentator of their AFL coverage, and has previously held the position of co-host on the breakfast show The Cage.
James Brayshaw is an accomplished host and MC and is in demand for corporate and charity events; he is a great all-rounder and one of the biggest personalities in the Australian media.
