Dr. Denise N.J. Chapman is a passionate digital media-creator, storyteller, and teacher-educator at Monash University.

She is an early childhood inclusion specialist focused on critical digital literacies, media literacy, and culturally-sustaining partnerships within diverse communities in Melbourne, Australia.

Current work

As part of the Learning with New Media Group, Denise is particularly interested in researching how the curation and creation of digital, hardcopy, and performed stories can support communities / persons experiencing marginalisation. She also explores how self-published media can be used to engender spaces for critical discussions on social injustice.

Denise serves as a Deputy College Head for Monash University’s Aquila College for non-residential students as well as a student advisor for Monash University Education students in the Early Childhood/Primary course

Previous experience

Education: In 2016, Denise received Monash University’s Faculty of Education Dean’s Award Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning.
