Multi award-winning journalist and author Samantha Lane is a media trailblazer. A member of the Seven Network’s Australian Football League television broadcast team, Sam’s experience and reach across mainstream and social media platforms is unique. 

Her first book, ROAR, is unparalleled; telling of the culture transformation generated by the AFL women’s league launch. Sam has been engaged nationally to discuss the phenomenon since ROAR’s 2018 release. ROAR won a Melbourne Press Club Quill Award in 2019 for the best reporting on women’s sport.

Sam was selected for the inaugural Sport Australia-Australian Institute of Sport executive talent program in 2019.</b> She sits on a new Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement advisory panel, chaired by Ian Thorpe AM and convened by Sport Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport.

Top corporates engage Sam as a keynote speaker, master of ceremonies and conference moderator. Clients have included the National Gallery of Victoria, CGU, National Australia Bank and David Jones.

Sam is a co-host and boundary rider for Channel 7 telecasts of AFL women’s matches and joined AFL men's telecasts with Seven’s Saturday Night Footy team in 2013. Sam became a regular guest on Seven’s flagship program, Weekend Sunrise, in 2018 and broadcast cycling on the network's record-breaking 2018 Commonwealth Games coverage.

A three-time Melbourne Press Club Quill winner, Sam’s reporting on football doping scandals was part of a Fairfax entry that won a Walkley award. The AFL Coaches’ Association, Players’ Association and VicHealth have also recognised her work.

Sam was a founding committee member for Stand Up Events, an inaugural ambassador for the Basil Sellers Art Prize and has represented Beyond Blue and FightMND.

Sam covered three Olympics for Fairfax and the Tour de France on three occasions. She spent ten years with Australia’s best-known comics on Channel 10’s Before the Game, was on the ABC's Agony Aunts and her radio experience includes Melbourne’s ABC 774, SEN 1116 and 3RRR.
