After turning professional in October 1994, Karrie Webb quickly gave the golfing world a glimpse of what was ahead when she finished third on the 1995 Women's European Tour, was named 'Rookie of the Year' and became the youngest winner of the Women's British Open.

From there Karrie moved to the LPGA Tour in the United States and again made an immediate impact with four wins, five top five finishes to be the leading moneywinner and the first player in LPGA history to win over US$1million in a single season. In 1997 Karrie recorded three victories, seven top fives and wonthe Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average. By the end of the following year Karrie had recorded a total of ten career wins and was fighting out an intense rivarly with Annika Sorenstamfor the title of the world's best female golfer. 1999 continued to be a year of superlatives with six LPGAvictories including a repeat on the Gold Coast at the AustralianLadies Masters.
