Biography
An exciting swimming prospect, Jim Piper represents the next generation of swimmers who will carry on Australia's winning tradition in the pool.
Jim elevated himself to world-class status in 2002, becoming Commonwealth champion in Manchester in the 200m breaststroke, picking up another gold in the 4x100m medley relay.
He was also a member of the Pan Pacific Championships team in Yokohama where he claimed two silver medals in the 200 breaststroke and 4x100 metre medley relay as well as a very impressive bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke.
Those results rounded out a tremendous year, which saw him become a World Champion, when he won the 200m breaststroke at the World Short Course Championships in Moscow.
He also helped set a new world short course record as a member of the 4x100 metre medley relay team at the Australian Championships in Melbourne.
