Biography

Georgie Clarke won her first national title (U14) at the age of 11. Travelled on her first Australian team to run the 1500m at the 1998 World Junior Championships where she was the youngest competitor at the championships (14yrs). The 1999 World Youth champion over 800m was on fire during the Grand Prix Series and Australian Championships of 2000 with personal best performances over both 800m and 1500m. On the 30th Janurary 2001, she ran a 4:06.77 to win the 1500m at the Hobart Grand Prix, the fastest time ever recorded on Australian soil.

At the 2004 Nationals/Olympic trials Georgie placed 2nd in the 1500m, then took the 5000m title on debut. In March she placed 55th in World XC (long course). In Europe she ran a 1500m best of 4:08.60 and set pbs in the mile, 3000m and 5000m (4:31.76, 8:55.97 and 15:32.56). In March placed second in the National 1500m and then was 46th in the World Cross Country (short course), helping the Australian team to 7th place.
