Biography

Vernon’s story has touched the hearts of Australians when in June 2012, an everyday game of Aussie Rules Football left his life changed forever. At just 23 years old, a tragic accident left the Leongatha Football Club Vice Captain with spinal cord injuries resulting in C5-C6 quadriplegia. Beau subsequently spent 8 months in hospital adjusting to a very different life of rigorous rehabilitation, physical and mental challenges.

Despite challenges to his physical and mental strength, Beau now uses his resilience and enthusiasm to motivate and mentor as a speaker and coach.

As a speaker, presenter and advocate for disability awareness, Beau’s story of achieving over adversity is touching and inspiring.

Beau is currently the Senior Head Coach of the Leongatha Football Club where he has led the Leongatha senior side to two consecutive Grand Finals in his first two years as Coach.

Adding to his list of impressive accomplishments, he’s the 2016 National Champion for his category in hand cycling.

He’s also an avid competitive quadriplegic surfer, husband and father.

Beau is a recent recipient of the Pride of Australia Medal holder, which was awarded to him for his outstanding contribution to the community.
