Current Work
Angela is an award-winning journalist, presenter, documentary-maker, author and MC.
Her most recent documentary, The Record, follows Australia’s dramatic Women’s T20 World Cup campaign and the audacious bid to fill the MCG for the final on International Women’s Day 2020. The two-part documentary premiered globally on Amazon Prime in March 2021 and had a secondary release on ABC TV. Angela co-wrote and co-produced the film. Her next documentary idea is bubbling away.
Angela is a co-host on Broad Radio – a live-streamed radio show by and for women.
She also writes regular columns about sport and culture for a number of publications and is a tireless campaigner for gender equality in sport and society. In fact, her most recent book, Breaking The Mould – Taking a Hammer to Sexism in Sport made the Grattan Institute’s ‘Prime Minister’s Summer Read-ing list’, The Australia Institute’s ‘Essential Reading List’ and is on its third reprint.
Angela is a proud ambassador of the Adelaide Crows.
Previous experience
Television, Radio and Documentaries: Angela is perhaps best known for anchoring the sports segment on ABC TV News in Victoria for almost a decade. Searching for a new challenge, Angela walked away from the ABC in 2008 and went where no woman in Melbourne had been before: the testosterone-charged world of breakfast sports radio. In 2018, she returned to the national broadcaster as co-host of Saturday Grandstand on ABC Radio alongside popular comedian, Anthony “|Lehmo” Lehmann. She’s appeared on a number of television programs including Network Ten’s Before the Game and The Project.
Angela has written, directed and produced two television documentaries about the rise of women in Australian Rules football: League of Her Own, which aired on the Seven Network, and Heroes, which screened on ABC TV. Her third documentary, The Record, is currently screening globally on Amazon Prime and is on ABC iview.
Author: In 2017 Angela released Breaking The Mould – Taking A Hammer To Sexism In Sport. It provides a fascinating insight into the changing Australian sporting landscape, and challenges all of us to do more to level the playing field.
Her first book, The Goddess Advantage – One Year in the Life of a Football Worshipper is as much about Greek mythology as it is about football, and was shortlisted for the Colin Roderick Award for Australian Literature.
Angela has contributed to a number of publications including The Footy Almanac, It Happened on a Fishing Trip, From the Outer and Father Figures. She writes regular columns about sport, culture and society.
Angela has an Honours degree in Politics from the University of Adelaide and a Journalism degree from the University of South Australia.
