A native of Canberra, Adrian Barich began his sporting career at the age of seven in rugby union, a sport in which he represented his state in national carnivals. At age 16 he made the switch to Australian rules and never looked back, playing in his first senior premiership with the Manuka Football Club the following year. By the time he left the ACT for Perth in 1983 at the age of 20, he had played 60 senior home and away games and 10 finals.
Previous experience
Beginnings: Signed by the Perth Football Club while a student at the University of Western Australia, Adrian soon found himself in the company of footy legends Robert Wiley and Peter Bosustow. He ended his career at Perth in 1994 after 160 games, including 5 finals, one fairest and best award, club captaincy in 1993 and 1994 and life membership.
Eagles: An inaugural member of the West Coast Football Club in 1987, Adrian played 47 games for the Eagles between 1987 and 1992, including one final.
Footy: He has represented Western Australia three times, including once as captain, and has also represented NSW twice in State of Original football, against Queensland and Victoria. In 14 years, Adrian played 289 games and was voted Footballer of the Year by the W.A. Media Guild in 1994.
TV: The following year, Adrian became a television reporter and presenter for Channel Seven (on Perth station TVW), also writing a column in The West Australian for several years.
Radio: Adrian co-hosted Radio 6PR’s daily Sports Central program. In 2010 he left 6PR and launched a new show on Mix 94.5 called The Dead Set Legends.
