Clive Scott has worked in the hotel industry for more than 30 years, starting his 5-star hotel career at the Hilton on the Park in Melbourne while studying at university.
Current work
He is actively involved in Melbourne’s business and arts community. He is on the board of Craft Victoria and The Oceania Foundation, is Chairman of the Georges Mora Fellowship, is Chairman of the Department of Management and Marketing Advisory Board at the University of Melbourne, and is Chairman of Judges for the 2017 Melbourne Awards. He also is a member of the Hope Street Youth and Family Services Corporate Advisory Board.
Clive’s present responsibilities include those of General Manager of Sofitel Melbourne On Collins as well as Sofitel Brand Manager – Australia.
Previous experience
Education: He has a Diploma in Hotel Management and a Degree in Economics and worked for the Hilton chain for 21 years in places such as Sydney, Cairns, Thailand, Korea and Japan. Many of these overseas locations were in senior Food and Beverage positions.
Accor: Clive has also spent time as the General Manager, Human Resources, for the Accor group of hotels (Australia/New Zealand/Japan), and is regarded as one of Accor’s most experienced General Managers in the Asia Pacific Region, having managed the Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Novotel and Hotel Ibis, Sydney Olympic Park, Western Sydney Hotels Accor, and the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.
Sofitel: In 2005, Clive returned to his hometown of Melbourne as General Manager of Sofitel Melbourne On Collins. Sofitel bids farewell to the longest-serving hotel general manager in Melbourne as Clive celebrates his retirement in 2023.
Medal: Clive has been honoured with the Gold Tourism Medal from the French Minister of Tourism for his contribution to tourism development between France and Australia. He was awarded the 2013 Silver Bernache in the category of Respect/Social Responsibility by AccorHotels, and in 2015 was made an honourary member of Les Clefs d’Or Australia. In 2018 was made a member of the Bordeaux Wine Society and awarded a Brolga Award by the Australian Dancing Society for services to Dance Sport in Australia.
